I was commissioned by Penguin to animate the book cover for The Confessions of Frannie Langton, a novel by Sara Collins that is set to release in 2019. The animation is to accompany a social marketing push in order to enrich the book release. The project involved photographing the book cover in a make-shift studio to emphasise the beautiful raised golden thread. I then used Photoshop to clean the best shot and created an ‘embroidless’ version of just the red cloth material whilst also isolating and saving off each individual element. These were then combined in After Effects for a slow sewing-like animated reveal which was then enhanced in a 3D scene.
Penguin Random House commissioned the animated reveal of The Confessions of Frannie Langton by Sara Collins. The cover is embroidered at a very high quality and this textural aspect was an important key feature to convey through animation.
